Welcome back from all the holiday craziness. We've had some fun celebrations, including our final move into our own LA apartment (we had been sharing space since relocating back from Central Florida). We're building a new home routine and getting to know our new neighborhood. Wednesdays are our library days becasue we visit our favorite local branch in Pacoima for story time. It's mostly for Amelie but Astrid gets a kick out of it too.
In new book news, if you follow me on social media, you know that Binti: The Night Masquerade was released on Tuesday! I heard about it a year ago and it is the final installment of my favorite book series. Binti and Binti: Home are some of my favorite books, and the author, Nnedi Okorafor is my favorite writer. Even if you don't think you like science fiction, you should read her work. Her writing is so much more than science fiction.
As for more reviews, I'm going to be trying something different. Thank you to everyone who answered my polls about book review lengths and most people agreed that they liked shorter reviews. This gives me a chance to do more of them! I also like longer, more researched pieces, so occasionally I'll go back and take a second look at a book and give a more in depth review. I think this adjustment will help spread more awareness and keep me from burning out.

- Binti: The Night Masquerade: I haven't actually started reading this because I am waiting for it to arrive today. But I'm confidant that I will have finished it by tomorrow.
- American Street: A young adult novel about a Hatian girl who must navigate Detroit after her mother has been deported.
- When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir: Very personal accounts that lead to the creation of the activist group.
Recently FInished
- Sail Away: A beautiful collection of poems by Langston Hughes and artwork by Ashley Bryan.
- Astrophysics for People in a Hurry: I listened to Tyson narrate the audio book and really enjoyed it.
- Too Much Talk: A West African Folktale: This short children's book was funny and had me laughing with each page.
